Hume Coal hydrogeochemical modelling and assessments
RGS was engaged to complete a geochemical assessment for spoil and coal reject materials. The assessment included a comprehensive kinetic testing program and development of several hydro-geochemical predictive water quality models in response to specific comments related to the Hume Coal Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The hydro-geochemical models were constructed in PHREEQC and Geochemist’s Workbench (GWB) and were used to predict stockpile seepage water quality, water quality evolution in several dams and groundwater response to underground placement of reject slurry.
