Sepon Mine Water Treatment

Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operate the Sepon Copper and Gold Mine in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. RGS was engaged by LXML to undertake an environmental evaluation of potential residual and cumulative impacts from a proposed ion exchange (IX) water treatment process that was being considered by LXML for a copper tailings dam to allow the excess water balance to be reduced. The evaluation included assessment of the aqueous and solid phases of the IX process stream including assessment of how placement of IX brine into an Oxide TSF may affect the closure plans for the TSF. Outcomes of the work led to reconsideration of the proposed IX process.
